okdeluxe is a London-based design studio which focuses on interaction design and media experiences, services and products. I came across this piece of work and really liked the concept (after I struggled to understand it fully for a while!) and the imagery the data created. The project title is “Unsung Heroes of Tour de France”, and is an application designed for exploring riders and teams performance in the most famous bike race in the world.
“Media coverage of the event is very intense, but often it is only focused on a very limited amount of riders and teams – this application aims to draw a picture of the complete race, enabling all riders stories to be told at the same level.”
There’s a A2 PDF okdeluxe have kindly set up for downloading so you can have a closer look. The data for application was scraped off www.letour.fr and compiled into a Google Spreadsheet. Have a look at okdeluxe’s other work. Pretty neat stuff.
